ERGs can not only add value to the individual, but can also serve to add value to an organization, including reducing turnover rates, encouraging organizational goal achievement, and increasing productivity and performance. One additional value that ERGs provide for many organizations is a connection to the community, and many companies have relied on these groups to lead their philanthropic efforts. But in the wake of this pandemic, how is this changing and are how are companies leveraging their ERGs to serve their employees and the communities in which they live? WHY IS STEM SO IMPORTANT?

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, STEM field growth is expected to outpace overall employment growth in the near future. Consequently, a shortage of qualified candidates for open STEM positions is also predicted. While many industries have made strides in improving Hispanic representation, STEM-related industries continue to struggle to recruit and retain Hispanic talent. They’re missing out on a significant pool of potential employees—about 18 percent of the U.S. population is of Hispanic descent, and that number is expected to increase to 28 percent by 2060. Join this webinar hosted by HACR Executive Vice President and COO Dr. Lisette Garcia, with guest speakers Raquel Tamez, CEO of the Society for Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) and Dr. David Ortiz, Senior Vice President for Operations at the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU). They’ll be discussing barriers that limit Hispanic inclusion in STEM professions, and ways to mitigate these shortfalls moving forward.
