In alignment withJohnson & Johnson’sefforts to bolsterHispanic talent,Ruby Castilla-Puentes, M.D. and member of the seniorleadership team for Johnson & Johnson’s HispanicOrganization for Leadership and Achievement (HOLA),developed the Visiting Scientist/Clinician Program in 2007.Since then, this initiative has expanded developmentalopportunities for Hispanic clinicians by enabling themto present their scientific studies to a much broader andinternational colleague population. HOLA manages theVisiting Scientist/Clinician Program through partnershipwith the following organizations:• American Society of Hispanic Psychiatry• American Psychiatric Association• Asociación Psiquiátrica de América Latina• World Psychiatric Association• World Federation of Societies of Biological Psychiatry• National Hispanic Medical AssociationFor over eight years, the Visiting Scientist/ClinicianProgram has provided ongoing mentoring and support toHispanic clinicians with literature review and study design,abstract development, publications and presentations.As a result, participating clinicians have been invited towork in volunteer projects with key opinion leaders on mental health in the U.S. and Latin America, providingcultural insights to mental health professionals andraising awareness of cultural differences associated withparticular diseases and their implications for treatmentgoals.”
