HACU Partners with Corporations to Help Hispanic College Students Defray Education Costs

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) and Southwest Airlines announced 150 Hispanic college students will receive Southwest Airlines E-passes, as part of the 14th Annual “¡Lánzate! / Take Off!” Travel Award Program. The awards will provide students an opportunity to travel home to see their family.  More than 1,900 round trips have been awarded to students pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees since the program’s inception in 2005.

HACU is corporate partners awarded scholarships totaling $178,300 to help students defray costs for college. The 2018-19 scholarship program included: five Big Red ¡Avance! scholarships; 10 Café Bustelo® El Café del Futuro scholarships; five Denny’s Hungry for Education scholarships; 10 KIA Motors America, Inc. scholarships; two Oracle scholarships, five InGenesis scholarships and 30 Miller Lite – Brewed to be Bright and Coors Light – Climb On scholarships.

The 2019 HACU ¡Adelante! Leadership Institute will be held in Chicago in October 5-7, 2019 and is offered in conjunction with HACU’s Annual Conference to provide career and leadership development opportunities for students. For information visit  www.hacu.net.
