AGIF to Host Veteran’s Day Reception

Briana

The American GI Forum (AGIF) is dedicated to addressing the problems of discrimination and inequities endured by veterans after World War II. Through the efforts of many of the organization’s early leadership, the AGIF grew to other states and has chapters throughout the United States. Today the AGIF continues to advocate for U.S. veterans and their families. In 1998, the 50th anniversary of the organization, the U.S. Congress granted the AGIF a Federal Charter and it maintains a leadership role in many communities. The AGIF has, for seventy years been at the forefront of civil rights struggles, such as advocating for veterans benefits, desegregation of schools, voter registration, fair judicial proceedings, and combating media stereotyping and distortions. As one of twenty-five members of the Veterans Day National Committee, we are honored to be this year’s host organization for the Veterans Day Ceremony Reception in Washington, D.C. to be held on November 11, 2018. We have partnered with the American Red Cross and will hold the reception at the Red Cross Headquarters located a short distance from the White House. For those interested in attending the reception contact Monica Valdiviez-Wiley, email monicavaldiviez@outlook.com or Angel Zúñiga, email angel.zuniga@agifus.com.
